Building got easier. Building together didn't.
As technology advances, everyone can build beyond their own discipline. Designers write code, developers build interfaces, founders do both. But the setup for building as a team still hasn't caught up. Everyone got faster on their own. Working together stayed where it was.
We call that setup the workbench.
- Intent Card — before we start, we write down what we're doing it for.
- Four Gates — code goes through four checks, each of which it must pass before moving on.
- Decision Log — every decision is recorded with its reasoning, still there 6 months later.
- Shop Lead — the AI that runs the workbench and knows who left what where.
Project Memory — a project memory that keeps itself up to date without anyone having to fill it in.
Three products in one year. The workbench has proved itself. And it's still evolving.
